FORDA Pledges Legal Support to Resident Doctors Facing Harassment Over Solidarity Protests

The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) has announced its commitment to providing full legal assistance to any resident doctor who faces harassment or intimidation from police or government authorities due to their peaceful expressions of solidarity. This declaration follows a recent incident at RG Kar Medical College that has sparked widespread concern among the medical community.

In an official statement released by FORDA, the organization emphasized its unwavering support for resident doctors who may be subjected to notices, intimidation, or any form of harassment as a result of their participation in peaceful protests. The legal team comprising Advocate Satyam Singh and Advocate Sanjeev Gupta from the Supreme Court of India has been designated to provide comprehensive legal representation to affected doctors.

FORDA's statement underscores its dedication to protecting the rights of resident doctors, particularly in matters involving their freedom to peacefully express concerns over perceived injustices. The organization has vowed to ensure that any resident doctor encountering such challenges will receive robust legal support to defend their professional and personal rights.

This move by FORDA reflects its broader commitment to safeguarding the welfare of resident doctors across the country, especially in the face of actions that may undermine their ability to freely express their views on critical issues. The association's prompt response highlights its proactive stance in addressing the concerns of its members in the current challenging environment.
